Are you worried that you haven't practiced yoga before; or aren't flexible enough?
Please be rest-assured that the classes are suitable for ALL women, whether you have practiced yoga all your life, or have never set foot on a mat before.
Yes we guide our bodies lovingly through a range of asanas (postures) to support your body during pregnancy, birth and beyond, but equally these classes are so much more than just the physical practice.
What happens during the classes?
The classes are made up of different elements, and the time spent on these varies week-to-week depending on how attendees are feeling: how much they want to discuss topics; and how much energy they have to move. Sometimes it needs to be an evening of movement, and sometimes an evening of relaxation. The classes develop organically based on everyone's needs.
Each week has a theme which both leads our discussions and chosen postures. The classes are 1 hour 15 minutes in length.
We start by going around the room introducing ourselves, offloading the highs and lows of the week (if we want to - there is no pressure to share anything), and discussing our own experiences of the class theme.
We practice three breathing techniques which can be used throughout pregnancy, birth itself, and as part of your recovery (these are suitable whatever type of birth you are having, including a caesarean).
We initiate our physical practice. This usually takes the form of standing postures to maintain strength & stamina; all fours to give our abdominal organs a break from the additional weight we might be carrying; and seated postures, a time to focus on breathing and bonding with baby. We also practice prenatal sun salutations.
The class concludes with a beautiful pregnancy relaxation.
The classes are suitable from 14 weeks onwards (and yes the majority of ladies attend all the way to the end of their pregnancies).
Before 14 weeks, we encourage focusing on rest and breathing techniques instead.
What can we look forward to in classes?
If you aren't interested in a theme or it doesn't seem relevant, please keep an open mind. We adapt discussions AND most importantly postures EVERY week for EVERYONE in the room. Our themes cover as diverse topics as emotional balance, trusting your body, building strength and stamina, relieving back pain, comfort during birth, visualisations, to name a few.
These classes are personal and tailored for your needs.
I have been running the classes for 9 years so I have many years of experience!

TIPS ON BOOKING
To complete the form, please select your chosen block size. Select the first date and time you wish to start, then ‘select and make recurring’ to add your number of weeks. If the class is full, or there is no class a certain week, the date will show as unavailable. In this case, please add appointments until you have the number of dates to match your chosen block size. This system also allows you to remove dates you can’t make because of your own commitments.
I will provide all yoga equipment (mats, blankets, pillows, and eye masks) to use at your discretion. It is your choice if you would like to bring your own mat in addition to place on top.
I would advise that you bring a bottle of water and wear some loose comfortable clothes for your yoga practice, including layers so you can easily adjust depending on whether you are lying still in relaxation or being more physical.
